Getting to Sun Valley can be an adventure itself, so we recommend booking your flights as soon as you can!

Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN)

We recommend flying into Hailey's Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN). The airport is 20 minutes south of Ketchum. Many Ketchum Hotels have pickup options from the airport or you can rent a car. There is no Uber and taxis are limited so please make sure to coordinate this in advance.

Boise International Airport (BOI)

Another great option is to fly into the Boise Airport, which usually features cheaper & more frequent flights. Boise is a 2.5 hour drive from Sun Valley and you can either book in advance to rent a car or take the Sun Valley Express.

Magic Valley Regional Airport (TWF)

Delta offers flights into Twin Falls, ID (Magic Valley Regional Airport). Twin Falls is approximately 1.5 hours from Sun Valley, ID. There are no shuttles from Twin Falls to Sun Valley, but rental cars are available at the airport.

There are no Uber or Lyfts in Sun Valley so we recommend renting a car to get around town.

The Sun Valley airport is 20 minutes from town. Most hotels have pickup/drop-off options for the airport, but it isn't guaranteed. There are very few taxis at the airport so make sure to coordinate both your arrival and departure in advance.

Driving to Sun Valley is a great option if you have the time. If you end up driving we can suggest some stops along the way to make the road trip more enjoyable!

Portland to Sun Valley: 9 hour drive

Boise to Sun Valley: 2.5 hour drive

Salt Lake City to Sun Valley: 4.5 hour drive

The city of “Sun Valley” generally refers to several pockets of town. Ketchum, ID is the actual town where most of the restaurants, shops, sport outfitters, and galleries are located. It is small and very easy to navigate on foot. Less than a mile away (a very easy walk) is the actual Sun Valley Resort. This is where you’ll find the world famous Sun Valley Lodge, the Sun Valley Inn, as well as numerous condominiums and private homes. There are also several restaurants and shops in the Sun Valley Village.

Approximately 1 mile from the Sun Valley Resort is the beginning of Elkhorn. The Elkhorn area is very spread out with many housing options consisting of condominiums, townhomes, and private residences, many with spectacular views! On the other side of Ketchum, at the base of Bald Mountain, is the Warm Springs area which is also home to many condominiums and private residences.

We recommend renting a car if you plan to stay a few days in town as Uber/Lyft is not readily available. If you have a rental car there is plenty of parking, and walking between the Sun Valley Resort and Ketchum is also doable. For those that prefer to use local transportation, there is a great free bus service that runs between Ketchum, Sun Valley Resort, Elkhorn, Warm Springs, and River Run (base of Bald Mountain).
